Non-traditional providers -- voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises -- are important additions to routinely commissioned services. They are often deeply embedded in the communities they serve and can provide more tailor-made solutions for the needs of people with long term conditions (LTCs). Engaging with non-traditional providers in an effective way can lead to: •Better outcomes for people with LTCs (social and clinical) •More cost effective use of NHS resources (and social care) •Widening of the local provider base Access report: www.diabetes.nhs.uk/document.php?o=2328
