TrusTECH (NHS Innovations North West) has recently launched a programme to identify ‘major impact’ new technologies, products and services developed by companies and non NHS organisations, in the prevention and treatment of Cardiovascular Disease and Long Term Conditions. This programme is being funded by NHS North West, NESTA, North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA), England's North West, Manchester City Council, Manchester Knowledge Capital and New Economy, through the Innovation Investment Fund Partnership. The project is entitled ‘Smart Solutions for Healthcare’, the website and more information can be found at this address: www.smartsolutionsforhc.co.uk
We are encouraging companies and other non NHS organisations to submit applications relating to new technologies, products or services which could improve the quality of healthcare for patients with Cardiovascular Disease or Long Term Conditions. Successful applications, selected by an expert assessment panel will be evaluated within an NHS setting in the North West of England. The programme will provide a suitable evaluation site with Principal Investigator, an amount of funding and the project management for this to happen. The ‘prize’ will be NHS based evidence in the form of a scientific report detailing the effectiveness and usability of the product, technology or service including a cost consequence analysis. Successful companies will be expected to match fund the evaluation, but this may be in the form of staff time, supply of the product for the duration of the evaluation etc
If your network members are aware of any novel products, technologies or services for the prevention and treatment of Cardiovascular Disease or Long Term Conditions that have not been widely adopted within the NHS, please can you forward this email to the appropriate company/non NHS organisation? The application form can be found at the above website, the closing date for applications is 6th April 2011.
