:) Claiming conditions for someone who cannot claim in their own right
:) Category B pension - for married people
Their spouse must have fulfilled the conditions for a pension in their own right : Both of the couple must be over pension age : Their spouse must be entitled tyo a pension in their own right
:) Category B pension - for widows
Her husband must have fulfilled the conditions for a pension in their own right or died of an industrial injury or disease : She must have been 60 or over when he died, or she was a widow immediately before she reached 60 and was entitled to a widow's pension :
:) Category B pension - for widowers
His wife must have fulfilled the contribution conditions in her own right : His wife must have died on or after 6.4.79 : Both he and she were over pensionable age when she died, i.e. he would now be a minimum of 90 years
:) Category D pension - for people over 80 who haven't paid NI
You must be 80 or over : You must have been ordinarily resident in GB on the day you reached 80 : You must have been resident in GB for a period of at least 10 years in any continuous period of 20 years immediately before reaching 80 : You must not be entitled to another retirement pension, which is more than a Category D pension.
How Much
:) Category A : Claimant - £82.05 per week : Adult dependent - £49.15 per week
:) Category B - Married : Claimant - £49.15 per week
:) Category B - widow or widower - £82.05
:) Category D : Claimant - £49.15
:) Extra information - It is possible to claim a retirement pension on your ex-spouses contributions if your are divorced, or your deceased spouses contributions if you are widowed in certain circumstances. Get Advice
